Meditation of the Heart

We are called to be sure in the Lord…without doubt or reservation…to be continuously holding firm to that which you know to be true.

Matthew 7:15 NIV “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.” They come to kill, steal and destroy our confidence in the uncompromising word and teaching of the Lord our God. They come to create doubt and disbelief which may lead to confusion and conflict in the body of Christ.

2 Timothy 4:1-3 NIV “In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage-with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.”

The word of God commands us to be careful of the things that we see, feel, digest, hear and think…especially those things that present themselves to be of him. The believer is called to know, to study, to understand the uncompromising word of God. Know that there may be things that we may not understand, it is here that we ask God to help us to understand/ to comprehend what it is that he needs us to receive in our spirit. It is in the word that the believer finds instruction and life. He is called to meditate on it day and night so that his heart and mind will be one in spirit and truth.

It is here that we ask God for wisdom so that we may apply his principles to our own lives. It is here that as we encounter others, who profess to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, that we are able to discern in our spirit, if the words of their mouth are truly from the heart and will of God. It is here that we will take heart to that which we know to be true and not be caused to fall away, hindered by false teachers, false doctrine, lukewarm truths.

Let us not be overcome, swayed by every appearance of holiness; but let us evaluate, examine such things according to the truth that has come to save us and give us life eternal; this truth is found in the word of God.

Point: The Lord our God desires that each of us will know him for ourselves; that we will share our wisdom and knowledge of him perfectly with others so that they may also enter into the kingdom. God desires that we understand and receive the importance of nurturing and holding close, keeping near to the new believer; in giving them time to take hold of his word. It is here that we desire and are able to be an effective witness of Jesus our Christ. It is here also that we are blessed to partake, to share in the magnificent bounty of God…in his peace, his love, his provision, his comfort, his protection and in his power and authority. In all that we do, to God be the Glory. Amen. And Amen.
