There is a word from the Lord. 1 Kings 17: 8-24, speaks to faith, hope, obedience, perseverance and love. It speaks to the heart of the believer. My spirit speaks to one whom I love…this message is to you. You will not lie down and die but you will live in the abundance of your heavenly Father. Because he is God, you are already alright!
Because you believe, your cupboards will never be empty. Because you believe, you will see God do for you what you cannot do for yourself. Because you believe, you will continue to look up to the hills from which comes all your help! Because you believe, you know that all your help comes from the Lord.
It is your faith that will allow you to be cheerful and confident during your times of uncertainty. It is your faith that will allow you to see beyond the physical into the manifestation of the blessing of God into your life. It is your faith that will strengthen and keep you; your faith is your strong tower; it will make you whole.
For you, my love, it is your hope that will keep you from losing your statue, your character, your integrity. Your hope in the promises, the benefits, the words and deeds of God is going to carry you through.
It is now, your turn, to be still and wait on the salvation of the Lord. It is now your turn to walk by faith and not by sight. For the Spirit God gave us does not make us fearful, but gives us power, love and self-control. Meditate on Isaiah 11:2 without ceasing, “The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him-(that’s you…and look at what he will rest...put...on you) the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord.” I thank God for his spirit.
As I journey, as you reveal yourself the more, you are a good God. You are good. You are my God! Psalms 32:7 says “You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.” Lord, I thank you for being my refuge in my times of sorrow and adversity. I know that I will not be consumed because you have placed a song of victory in my heart. When it seems as though my best is not good enough, when it seems as though I stand alone, when it seems as though I might not make it, I must know that I must trust your plan for you are only preparing me for better, for greater, in you. I’m learning to not take the changes, the adversity personal. I know that it is simply my turn to grow in faith and to trust in the Lord.
God is calling us to know that we are very important to him. He needs us to know that he loves and cares for us. He desires the best for us. Genesis 2:7 tells me “Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.” With that, he holds my very being, my life, my everything in the palm of his hands. So when things get a little tough then I must really keep it simple and all about Jesus. I must not allow myself to be distracted by the things of this world, what others have to say about me and or my situation…I must stay focused on the word of God and what he says about me. He knows and he cares for me.
I know that without faith it is impossible to please God. Having faith in God is not a blind or uncertain event, it is trusting him for who he is and having the assurance that he is near at all times. Our faith has been secured through our relationship with him. Time and time again God has shown himself true. He will never leave you nor forsake you. In your quiet time with him, ask yourself, Is there anything too hard for my God? Just think about it, is there? Who do you know who can part a body of water and allow a nation of people to cross over it on dry land? Who do you know can speak life and death into existence? Who do you know can heal just by someone one touching his clothes? Who do you know can empower a young man to fight a giant with a single rock and a homemade slingshot? Who do you know? Who do you know has ever spoken peace to a stormy sea and it became calm? Who do you know can make the wind behave? Who do you know who loves you so much that he laid down his life, took on the weight of sin, carried a rugged cross to Calvary, yet while you were still in your sin? Who do you know can take an alcoholic, a liar, a cheater, an abuser, a drug user, a deceiver and turn them into teachers, preachers and ministers of the word? Who do you know has the power to separate darkness from light? Who do you know? There is no one, no one, but Jesus.
Think not on your circumstance but on the word of God. Give all your issues… financial, health, future opportunities, current obstacles, spiritual shortcomings, physical limitations or world/man concerns…give them all to Jesus.
God wants you/ us to know that he has not and will not forget about us. As life happens, and it does to all of us, as a believer we must know that God is near. Regardless of what it looks like we are going to be okay. Hallelujah. Thank You Jesus. I’m reminded of Jeremiah 29: 10-12 “For thus says the Lord,”When seventy years have been completed for Babylon, I will visit you and fulfill my word to you, to bring you back to this place. For I know the plans that I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans for welfare (prosperity) and not calamity (harm) to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you: A word of assurance from a great and mighty God. God desires to hear you call his name…he will hear you.
Time and time again, you have called on him and he’s been there. What makes this time any different. I say to you and to myself, Nothing.
God is near and he cares for you. Be blessed in the Lord.
