Meditation of the Heart

Malachi 3:8” Will a mere mortal rob God? Yet you rob me, “But you ask, ‘How are we robbing you?’ “In tithes and offering.” What a word from God that challenges the heart, the commitment of the believer. Let it be known that the Lord our God requires obedience. He desires that we trust, that we believe, in his word concerning all things. It is the Lord who loves a cheerful, willing and faithful giver.

Who are we, that we would imagine to hold something back from God? What is it that we would value, cherish so much that we would attempt such an act of greed? Do we not know that creation will always, for eternity, be called unto submission to the Creator?

The spirit of giving is a gift from the Lord. Let us not be hard hearted for it is here that we will miss our blessing. 2 Corinthians 9:8 “And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”

In our giving, we are called to walk in faith. We are called to know that it is God who cares, who provides, who protects us. We serve a God who is able. He is the one true living God who desires our whole heart. He desires that we be fully committed to him. It is through our giving, that we show our faith, our hope and our dependence on God. We demonstrate our peace and love in our service to him. We also reveal a desire for a more intimate and strong relationship with him.

Psalm 24:1 “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it;” A truth that we must receive, allow to manifest in our spirit. Give unto the Lord as he has given unto us…It’s a matter of the heart.
